public blogging for free

I’ve been looking for the best provider for blogging on the www and for free.

Of course I’m asking a lot but I’d like to be able to blog in public with as much ease and power as I can blog here at work where we have b2evolution running on our intranet.

I’ve tried a few places, starting with the obvious xanga.com and bloglines.com, followed by some less well known like schtuff.com, geekswithblogs.com and blog.co.uk. I’ve also stumbled upon jroller.com but I think that I’ve got to be a Sun worshiper to join The blogs I want to add about open source .Net might not go down too well there.

The problem with each of the ones I’ve tried is that they are limited in one way or another e.g. only one post allowed or no RSS feeds on feedback.

Someone at work suggested I try wordpress which looks good so far. Of course blogger.com has a lot of what I need and I will compare this site with wordpress for a while until I can settle on the one most fitted to me.
